Increasing your average

Question: I have been a league bowler for 3 years and I am stuck at a 180 avg. what can I do to get over the hump? Also what is the useful life of a bowling ball to preform at its capacity? When should it be replaced?

Answer: First I might suggest some lessons with an insrtuctor in your area.

But I find when someone is stuck at the 180 to 190 area you need to learn more about adjusting on the lanes. Having a idea which ball to use at what time. work on repeating shots. Then finally and the most important work on your spare shooting. Going up to 200 average amounts to 2 spares a game more than you make now.

Take a session or two and mark down which and how many spares you are missing during the 3 games. I think you will find more than the average of 2 spares a game are missed. Some will be splits they are part of the game but many of them will be single pin spares. Eliminate them and your average will go up. BOB
